July Newsletter

July!? How in the world is it possibly July already?

While we are all living in this odd version of reality, it is my intention that this newsletter brings you some relief, some inspiration, some tools and yes, maybe a giggle or two.

Here are some things I've been noticing.

Time Management Technique Making Waves

The Pomodoro Technique is something that I have been using and coaching on for years.

Now, however, I have been seeing it again all over social media. And it is a great tool to have in the toolbox! The basic premise is you have a timer and you section off your work within a specific amount of time, then you take a short break. Fun fact: the gentleman that wrote the book (Francesco Cirillo) used a timer shaped like a tomato and the Italian word for tomato is Pomodoro.

In his book, Cirillo recommends 25 min of work, then a 5 min. break. I tend to use 50/10 intervals, but you can adapt this to make it work for you. It is especially great if you are sitting in front of the computer. Try it and let me know what you think.

"If you’re not acknowledging the challenges of our world right now, it looks like all you care about is business" - Arden Clise

Wow - who can relate to this tightrope you have to walk right now? Even sitting down to put together this newsletter I wasn't sure what tone to take. Then I decided to just be myself. In the end, people will either like it or not. They will either unsubscribe or not. Being myself is, for me, the best way to handle this dilemma.

But here is an interesting article that put this idea in my head:

How to Write Emails in a Pandemic - the BBC, By Clarissa Sebag-Montefiore

Breathing

We all do it. But this article will certainly tell you some things about this unconscious habit most of us take for granted. I teach a 5-5-5 method of breathing (breath in for a count of 5, hold for a count of 5, exhale for 5) and find it helps relax, focus and align your body and mind. I am interested in what your takeaways are after reading this article!

Connect 2 Women is Coming in September!

Yes, you read that correctly! September 15/16 The 5th Annual Connect 2 Women Conference

will be held in Cheyenne at Little America (and possible other venues). We will be following CDC/Wyoming Guidelines for safety, but we will be gathering. 2020 will not be the year we don't have Connect 2 Women.

We may have to meet outside, we may have to wear masks, but we will gather to inspire each other, engage each other and connect with each other.

The agenda is in the works, speakers are being gathered and the excitement is building! We do have some unique sponsorships available here. To register, please see the Early Bird Special on the event page here. To receive updates as they happen, please subscribe to the Connect 2 Women site here. Also, follow Connect 2 Women on Facebook here.

I hope you have enjoyed this July Newsletter. If you did, feel free to share and let me know what you liked. If you didn't - let me know that too!
